Escobar's in downtown Champaign for lunch.
Escobar's has the tastiest complimentary muffins in town. Today's was coconut. We ordered: a cup of lentil soup ($3) and the grilled chicken sandwich with guacamole, bacon and Monterey Jack cheese ($9). It comes with a side of their sweet potato fries, house-made ketchup, and petite mixed greens salad.

Mad about this (food pic).
Unlimited soup and salad at lunchtime for $9?!? Biaggi's brings it. Fresh beets roasted with a honey balsamic marinade, served with arugula, chunks of avocado, sun-dried cranberries, and spicy walnut crusted Montchevré goat cheese. What I didn't photograph was the Tuscan-style soup with assorted vegetables and white beans.

Love is in the air @BerettaSF (food pics).
After a trip to the de Young Museum we made our way down (on foot) to Beretta in the Mission District for a Valentine's Day meal. Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce ($6); eggplant caponatina with burrata ($9); and the artisan salumi plate with giardiniera (lardo, sopressata, hot coppa, prosciutto di parma + mortadella, $17).

Fish and chips as a sit-down meal @Destihl.
Dining at Desthil in downtown Champaign, I ordered: Hefeweizen beer battered cod with a side of french fries along with tartar sauce, habanero infused vinegar, and a half of a grilled lemon ($12).
