Commander's Palace in New Orleans: Sugarcane smoked pork over sweet potato-andouille hash, and fried onions ($21); po' boy with fresh fried Gulf oysters and shrimp ($16); sour cream mashed potatoes with skin ($7); the Commander's salad with hearts of romaine, grated Parmesan, pressed egg, housemade bacon, French bread croutons, shaved Gruyere, and creamy black pepper dressing ($8.50); turtle soup with a splash of sherry ($8); and strawberry shortcake for dessert ($8.50). They also offer 25 cent martinis at lunch time. Dangerous stuff, man.
