Smitty's in Lockhart.

Sights in and around Smitty's Market. With roughly six pounds of various smoked meats for $55, I'm ready for detox.

Tex-Mex at Cantina Laredo (@CantinaAustin).

I'm not a fan of chain restaurants — even if they are small chains. Cantina Laredo es sabroso! It's not the best or the cheapest in town — but, it is enjoyable. I have yet to have a poor meal or slow service here. This time, we ordered the enchiladas de avocado which were stuffed with avocado + artichokes and smothered in tomatillo sauce on top of a bed of spinach ($10) and the enchiladas de mole — not the thick, bitter mole and it did not have an overwhelming chocolate flavor — served with a side of rice ($13).

@BillionsCorp day party @Mohawk Austin.

The fabulous folks at Billions threw a lively day party at the Mohawk with great music and vittles to cure my hangover. BBQ and fruit catered by Louis Mueller. Thanks, guys + gals!

Lamberts for two.

Even though it may not be the most affordable place in downtown Austin for BBQ, Lamberts is pretty killer. We started off with complimentary mini cornbread rolls and a few Lone Star beers (a local Texas brew for $3 a piece). Everything on the menu looked mouthwatering — but, we only had eyes for the oak smoked, natural beef brisket done in a brown sugar + coffee rub accompanied with a side of house pickled escabeche of jalapenos, cauliflower, and onions ($16).

I'm more of a fan of the melt in your mouth brisket — and Lamberts has more marbling than I would have preferred. The taste of the brisket was smoky, meaty, tender, salty, and fatty. Three different sauces were also served on the side: house, mustard, and hot. We topped off our order with the family style smoked bacon braised collard greens ($6) which unfortunately, resembled more of a single serving portion.

Be more Pacific.

Food cart Austin style: $8 for two sliders (one was a  longanisa & the other was an Adobo chicken) and a fried egg roll. It filled me up just enough to be able to crush some BBQ in a few hours.

Be More Pacific is located on the NE corner of Colorado and 5th.

You were good 6 years ago.

Usually, I don't complain about food. But, this is the last time I'll eat here. White person problem: too many fried noodles to vegetable ratio, no flavor, and I feel kinda sick from the excess oil. Lad nar @ Penny's Noodle Shop in Chicago, $6.95.

Living, breathing wall.

Yesterday, I finished my Woolly Pockets project. I stuffed the pockets with soil and peralite. Then, I added philodendron, pothos, spider plants, old man's beard, and fern hearts ($125 total cost). Now the bedroom seems more cozy!
